Template:Service Entry
From MusoWiki
This page contains the source code for the templates to be copied into every service's entry. All you need to do is log in click on "edit" above, copy every piece of code between the top and bottom horizontal lines (but not the lines themselves) and paste it into the service listing's editing box. Following the second horizontal line is some advice about each section and what to fill it with. Remember that short and sharp is best for this listing - save the demos and sales pitch for the service's website.
Replace the first URL above with the URL for your service and the second with the URL of you service's logo or photo. Keep the image to a reasonable size. If you need an editing program for graphics, download The GIMP- it's free and quite handy.
Who or What are we?
In one sentence or less describe the service and approximate limitations. For example: "A medium-sized venue in downtown Berlin that caters mainly to techno/dance audiences" or "A law firm in Brisbane, Australia specialising in Intellectual Property matters".
What do we do for Musos?
Be a bit more detailed here, for example, "I/we specialise in R&B songs and have written for Rhianna and The Backstreet Boys". Give readers an indication of the service's fees (if it charges musos fees) or pay rates (if it hires musos). Provide a short biog of your service's credibility, for example, "Established in 1925, our accounting firm has provided services to some of the largest music companies in Malaysia ..." - but keep it sharp.
Where can Musos find us?
Give comprehensive contact information including (as appropriate):
Location: Insert the service's scope here. For example, "We are based in Barcelona and book acoustic venues in south-western Europe".
Email: thisis@theemail.com
Website: http://serviceurl.com
Phone numbers: 555 273852
Postal address: Box 1234 Your street, yourtown, 5678. Yourcountry.
Musos might want to call the service straight off the listing, so put it all in here and let them decide what to do with it. Feel free to change the order of these to suit your preferred mode of communication.
Include a Google or Yahoo Map if you can and if it helps. Code here:

The categories are the most important aspect of this entry. Although Musowiki has a search engine, a lot of musos will look for services according to their need - that's why the main page is structured the way it is. If you don't put your entry into the right categories, it will be harder to find.
There is no limit to the number of categories in which you can place the entry, but putting it in too many places serves only to make the service look desperate and shifty and placements in inappropriate categories WILL be deleted. To make sure you enter the service in the optimal places, think about how potential clients would find the service. What are their needs that might lead them to it?
Open a new tab or window and go to MusoWiki's Main Page. Think about the services you offer and click on the navigation option that best describes them (or relates to them) as the client might think. Follow the links until you have found the appropriate category and take note of its name at the end of the page's URL. Copy that name to replace the "Insert Category here" parts at the bottom of the template you just coped into your entry.
The syntax for the Categories is quite simple. It goes service_location_genre. If your service is not genre-specific you do not need to specify one. If it is a global service (ie it accepts clients from anywhere in the world and operates with global focus), the location should be "Global".
When you "Save page" (remember to use Summary "Initiate page" the first time you save), look at the Categories listed at the bottom of the page. If they are red, that means the category page does not yet exist. Click on each read category and edit that page to put it into its parent category - thus the tree grows.
